Salkantay Trek to Machupicchu 5d/4n
We have Salkantay (Wild mountain) trek 5 days walking in the Andes around the second highest mountain of Cusco´s region 6275 m.s.n.m. very nice scenary, Very Sacred and Powerfull in the Andean cosmology, moderate to difficult level, 3 nights camping + 1 night in hostel in Aguas Calientes Town, Guided Tour to Machupicchu, plenty of time to go to the hot spring, to visit Wayna Picchu, hike to the gate of the sun, or the inka bridge.

DISCOUNTS: US$30 discount on the above prices to students with a
valid International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and to children under
the age of 16 years old (scans of your ISIC card or child's passport
must be provided at the time of paying the trek deposit in order to
qualify for the discount).
Includes: Tourist transportation, camping equipments tent, roll
matts, pillows, donkeys or porters, English speaking guide, cooks, all
entrance fees, tour in Machupicchu, Back Packers tourist train return
back to Cusco, 3 nights in tent and 1 night in hostal, all meals during
the 4 days tour, fifth day only breakfast, one way bus ticket to
Machupicchu.

day, sleeping bag, porter for your personal belongings.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
Unless you hire an extra porter you need to carry your back pack.

Regarding porters who carry personal items. You will need to carry with
you a daypack with your Camera, water bottle, snacks, a fleece or
something warm and a poncho in case of rain (even in Dry season as a
precaution) and anything you will need before lunch as porters do not
walk alongside you. You will meet up with your bag at lunch and then it
will be waiting for you in your tent at campsites.

Itinerary:
1st Day Cusco- Soraypamapa
We start from Cusco by our private transport at 06:00 a.m. to
Mollepata (2900 m.a.s.l.) approximately 2 hours after Cusco we will have
breakfast on route with a nice view of “Apu Salkantay” mountain, then we
are going through Limatambo and the lush Apurimac Valley. After we
arrive to our trailhead, which is called Cruzpata 3200m. We meet our
team horsemen, cook, assistants. We trek for 2 hours to our lunch place.
We continue for approx 3 hours to Soraypampa 3850m. The first campsite.
(Breakfast, Lunch, afternoon tee, Dinner, + camping facilities Approx 10
km. Of distance).
2ndDay Soraypampa – Challguay
We weak up at 06:00 and we start walking 07:15 for approx 3 hour
uphill to Apacheta pass 4600 m.a.s.l. We will be very close to “Apu
Salkantay” you will feel the energy of that mountain. 2 hours downhill
we stop in Huayraqpunku to have lunch, then 3 more hours downhill to our
second campsite Challguay 2920 m. B, L, D, + camping facilities approx
23 km (If we have not an experienced hiker we can sleep the second night
in other campsite approx 16 Km Rayan Niyoq 2820 m.).
3rd Day Challguay – La playa
We start walking 07:15 downhill through Uscamayoq then we stop at
Wiñaqpoqo to have lunch. Along the way we can see different flowers,
orchids, birds, we will be in the high jungle. 3 more hours to La playa
our third campsite 2350 m. Small village with electricity and shop. B,
L, D, + camping facilities (approx 15 Km.). Important advise the
campsite could be changeable according to the group.
4th Day La Playa – Aguas Calientes
We start 05:00 and we are going to Lucmabamba walking through coffe
plantations to take the original Inka trail for three hours built since
1400 years A.D to Llaqtapata 2700 mts we stop to see magnificent view of
Machupicchu and Waynapicchu mountains where our tour guide will give you
an explanation of the archaeological site . From Llaqtapata 2 hours
downhill to the Hydroelectric plant 1870 mts. Where we have the last
lunch with all our crew. Around 14:00 we continue our hike to Aguas
Calientes town following the urubamba river where we can swim also we
can see different kind of birds; about 17:00 In the afternoon we arrive
to Aguas Calientes Town where we can choose the hot springs or hot
shower at the hostel, later at nigth we meet up to have dinner in one of
the restaurant. B, L, D + hostel (approx 17 km. Walking).
5th Day Aguas - Machupicchu
We can go walking or by bus to Machupicchu citadel and tour for 2
hours then you are going to have free time to explore and climb
Huaynapicchu or you can go to the gate of the sun. Usually the group go
back to Aguas Calientes town to Have lunch at 14:00. Then they take a
train to Cusco (B. + train ticket to Cusco ).
WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE:
• ORIGINAL PASSPORT AND ISIC CARD.
• BACKPACK AND DAYPACK.
• SLEEPING BAG. (at list we recommend -5ºC).
• HIKING BOOTS. ( Sneakers or Runners shoes are not recommended).
• WALKING POLES. (they are very important to go up and down in the Andes
because they will take 30% of your weight).
• WARM CLOTHES, LAYERS. (for variable temperatures specially at night)
• FLASH LIGHT. (at night is very dark)
• CAMERA AND EXTRA FILM & Batteries.
• SUN PROTECTION : SUNSCREEN : SUN HAT : SUNGLASSES. (at high altitude
the sun hit is very strong and easy to get sun burn).
• THERMALS : WOOL SOCKS : AND WOOLEN HAT FOR COLD NIGHTS.
• INSECT REPELLENT. (there are a lot of mosquitos but not any malaria.
• RAIN PONCHO. (Even if you have a rain coat we prefer to bring plastic
poncho).
• TOILET PAPER / SMALL TOWEL. (Baby wipes and hands sanitizer).
• BATHING CLOTHES. (for the hot shower at the hostel or hot springs).
• GLOVES / SCARF. (Trekking thermal Pants or similar).
• WATER BOTTLE. (You can bring electrolytes drinks).
• PERSONAL MEDICAL KIT. (In case we will have oxygen Tank).
• EXTRA MONEY FOR SOUVENIR, DRINKS & TIPS.
EXTRA MONEY:
You need to Take at least 300 or 400 soles emergency money that you
hope to come back to Cusco with!!! There are ATM´s in Aguas Calientes
and higher commission on Travelers Checks.
OTHER. TIPPING OF THE GUIDES AND PORTERS:
Tips for the guide and porters and horseman are not included in the
price of the trek and it is apart of the experience. Generally groups
prepare a collective tip on the 3rd day which is shared out between the
porters and cook (Tip is up to you, and dependent on the service you
receive).
Tipping for your Guide is separate after Machupicchu tour, when you meet
up in Aguas Calientes to have lunch (it is not included).
About the Price:
The 2012 price change, basically for the train tickets cost which is
outside of our control, the Train Company Peru Rail is increasing their
prices for this year.
Machupicchu entrance fee is 125 Peruvian Soles (including Peruvian
taxes) two bus ticket from A.C./M.P./A.C. which costs US$18 per person.
It is not anticipated that these costs will increase during 2012. The
price paid for the bus ticket is clearly marked on the ticket.
Local sales taxes known as IGV are included in the price of our treks
and tours. The currently rate of IGV is 19%. It is not anticipated that
this rate will increase during 2012; also we are one of the few
companies paying very good wages to our crew; Guides, porters, and
office staff.
TO BOOK:
To make the reservation with us. We need your full names, passport
numbers, age, Nationality, date of departure, also a deposit of 150 USD
per person, and the balance can be paid once you arrive in Cusco before
the Trek.
We have two options for the deposit:
1.- VISA ON LINE; when you make the deposit online you will
pay the percentage of deposit (8%) because in Cusco we have to pay taxes

2.- WESTERN UNION is the safest and fastest way to wire money
(especially when availability is changing very quickly and reservations

ELIZABETH YUPAICCANA JUAREZ (MANAGER) in the city of CUSCO -
PERU once you deposit you will get a code number please we need you
